David W. Benson

BENSON, David Walter – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Walter Benson, who passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in his 83rd year with family and friends by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.  

Dave leaves behind his much loved daughters Debbie (Tom) and Tracy and loved step daughter Brenda (Mark). Dave adored his grandchildren Nathan, Kristi, Shannon (Matt), Robbie, Sarah, Mia & Hannah. He was Great Papa to Owen, Natalie, Cohen, Malaya, Caleb, David, Livia & Annie. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (2008); parents, Willard & Marjorie; and his brother Bill; nephew David.

Dear brother to Beth (Garry) & Robert (Terry) and brother in law to Bob (Ann). He is survived by nieces and nephews Bobbi (Chris), Jill (Ivan), Keith, Richard, Lisa (Zac). Davey will be lovingly remembered by his close friend & companion Joanne.

Dave was born in Niagara Falls but spent most of his life in Guelph. Dave was devoted to family & friends, he was always the life of the party, we could count on Dave for a good laugh. Dave was a successful businessman co- owning & operating Hydra-Air Radiators for over 40 years. 

Hospice Wellington, thank you for your exceptional care and guidance during Dave’s stay.  

Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.
