Donald G. Canning

CANNING, Donald – It is with sadness that we announce that Donald Canning passed away peacefully in the hospice unit at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 after a long struggle with cancer. We are grateful to Dr. Shafir and the staff at St. Joseph’s for the skilled and compassionate care they provided Donald over these past few weeks. Thank you to Dr. Le at Guelph General Hospital for providing exceptional care to Donald. 

Donald spent his final months with friends and family, doing the things that he enjoyed. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. 

The family will be planning a memorial service for this spring, to be held near Toronto, Ontario. The details, once finalized, will be shared on Facebook in the coming months.
