Donald P. Jacobson

JACOBSON, Donald Paul – Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at his residence in Ariss on Sunday, September 5, 2010 in his 78th year, surrounded by his family. Don is survived by his wife, Marlyn (nee Duff), his sister Ellen and her husband Bill Harrison of McKellar, Ontario, and his children, Dale and Pam Jacobson of Cambridge, Wayne and Wendy Jacobson of Guelph, Christy and Bob Toth of Guelph, Neil and Michelle Jacobson of Kelowna, BC and Glenn Jacobson of Guelph. Loved grandfather of Shawn (Jen), Paul (Jessica), Lisa, Heather, Scott, Lauren, Henry (Jacquelyn), Catherine (Takashi) and Phil (Ashley). Don was the loved uncle of several nieces and nephews and the great grandfather of five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Jenny, his granddaughter Sarah, his parents Paul and Leta, and his brother Ted Longstreet. Don was born in Schumacher, Ontario in 1933. As a cadet with Port Credit High School, he became an accomplished marksman. After completing high school, he worked as a water well driller throughout Ontario. He loved classical music, square dancing and historic automobiles, and he gladly shared his wealth of knowledge with all who knew him. He was a long time member of the H.A.S.C. Southern Ontario. Don is now rejoicing and resting in the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkview Church, 89 Speedvale Ave. E., Guelph on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2221 Yonge St., Suite 601, Toronto, ON M4S 2B4, would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank the Bayshore Home Health Staff and also the Waterloo Wellington Community Care Access Center and staff. Don will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
