Douglas E. Peck
PECK, Douglas Earl (January 5, 1928 – April 20, 2017)
Our dear father & husband passed away peacefully April 20, 2017, at the age of 89. Doug was born & raised in Georgetown Ontario to Walter & Edythe Peck, the middle of three boys.
In his youth Doug was active in BYPU (Baptist Young Peoples Union) where he met his wife Bessie (nee Reid) of Acton. They were both very active in their local church in Georgetown. They were married June 1949 & were blessed with four children, Lynda (Paul) Stade & children Eliza, Judson & Timothy, Bruce & children Heather & Colleen, Lawrence (Melanie) & Keith (Mercy) & sons Ryan & Aaron. He also had 13 fun loving active great grandchildren.
Doug served in various leadership & music roles at the church. He was active for many years, in the Sunday School as Superintendent, Deacon & also in the choir, both singing & playing his cornet.
Doug worked at the Dominion Seed House for 40 years. He started as one of the farm helpers & retired as the General Manager 3 to 4 years before its closing. In the 1960s he started recording weather for the province in the little weather station box that was situated on the DSH property.
Doug was one of the first several men who worked with Georgetown Volunteer Ambulance, serving with them for many years, from the early 1950s to the mid 1970s.
Bessie passed away in 1999, however Doug was fortunate enough to have loved twice. He was married to Marilyn (Bracken) in Feb 2007. With that marriage he gained Marilyns son Chris Johnson. He & Marilyn enjoyed traveling many places in Canada & the US, until the last couple of years as Doug got older.
Doug is survived by his wife Marilyn, & her son, his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews and a brother & sister in law. He is predeceased by his wife Bessie (Reid), his parents Walter & Edythe (Dillon), & his brothers Roy (Peg) & Ralph (Kathy).
There will be a graveside Funeral service at Conningsby/Erin Fifth Line Union Cemetery, at 1:30 pm, Monday May 8th, 2017.
