KALAPACA, Douglas – Of Rockwood, passed away peacefully with a warrior’s heart after a courageous battle with cancer, at Hospice Wellington on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Beloved husband of 50 years to Annette. Cherished father of Andrew and Adrianna (Ryan). Loving Papa to Ava, Tyler, Jacob, Trenton, and Kali. Doug will be fondly remembered by his siblings, Bruce (Sharyn), Marlene, MaryAnne (Dave), Michael (Sandra), and Rob, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Doug dedicated his career to the pipe welding industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. In retirement, he embraced a quieter life, spending 15 fulfilling years tending to his land as a farmer – a role he truly loved.
Though he possessed herculean strength on the outside, Doug was a gentle, kind-hearted man. He had a deep love for animals, and an even deeper love for his family. He never missed a day of providing for them, and everything he did was a testament to his unwavering devotion.
Doug’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at his home at a future date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
Memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated who provided a peaceful and supportive environment as they guided him on his journey to the spirit world.
A tree will be planted in memory of Douglas Kalapaca in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
