Providing Cremation and Funeral Services to Guelph and Area since 1941.
McCUTCHEON, Elizabeth Anne
Aug. 30, 1942 – Jan. 25, 2025
In respectful remembrance of Anne’s life, we celebrate her 82 years.
Anne was a supportive and resolute mother, as well as a wonderful friend and highly engaged community member. Over the years she contributed a substantial amount of her time and energy to a myriad of community support initiatives, including canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, multiple choirs, and other charitable causes.
Anne was an avid gardener, and along with her friend Helen, a force to be reckoned with at the game of Scrabble. She obtained her B.Sc. in Pharmacy from the University of Toronto and continued to research the newest pharmacological updates well after she stopped working in the field.
Anne’s life was proof that we can always keep going, that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, and that we live far better lives when we learn to love and support others and allow them to do so in return. She was very independent and took pride in maintaining her house and many gardens. Her son Eric considers her a cornerstone of his life, without her love and support through both difficult and wonderful times he would not be who he is today.
We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Guelph General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Lapointe-Fisher, and the Elliott for taking such great care of her after her strokes left unable to live independently.
Anne did not want a service, preferring instead to be cremated with her ashes to be kept by and eventually buried with her son.
She requested that all those who are able to do so to please donate generously to the Canadian Cancer Society.
She is survived by her son, Eric George McCutcheon, sister Patricia Finch, her husband John and their children Kevin and Julie, as well as Kevin’s children Evan and Ella. Predeceased by her parents Ross and Ruth Hastings.
Anne touched many lives over the course of her 82 years and will be remembered fondly for her service and her friendship.
