Eileen Sharon La Berge
(October 27, 1944 – October 4, 2025)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eileen Sharon La Berge, who left us peacefully on October 4th, 2025, at Hospice Wellington, in her 81st year.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, on October 27th, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of Joseph La Berge and Brigid O’Farrell. Eileen is predeceased by her parents and her older sisters, Anne, Cecile, and Diane. She is survived by her younger brothers, Joseph and John.
Eileen was a proud and loving mother to Michael Ostler (Molly Wright), Paul Ostler (Rita Vettor), and Jennifer Campagnolo (Michael), all of Guelph. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Alexandra Carere (Dave Drone), Jessica Waterman (Jason), Jack Menna (Andrea), Danielle, and Alisa Campagnolo, and a great-grandmother, affectionately known as “Gigi,” to James, Audrey, Daniel, and Adelaide. Eileen will be fondly remembered by many friends and members of the Guelph community, where she was an active volunteer.
Eileen’s indomitable spirit and passion for social justice were at the heart of everything she did. She was a dedicated advocate, for causes both national and local, including the Council of Canadians and The Big Umbrella. Eileen’s curiosity and love of reading fueled many discussions on topics ranging from psychology to herbology, naturopathic and chiropractic medicine, and the ever-evolving political landscape.
Eileen will be deeply missed by all those who loved her, including nieces, nephews and those whom she has helped or touched during her life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Guelph General Hospital and Hospice Wellington for the compassionate care they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice Wellington, the Council of Canadians, or Guelph Women in Crisis as expressions of sympathy.
A private family service and interment will be held. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
