PARKER-HILLMAN, Eleanor Hazel
June 30, 1924 – February 20, 2022
Eleanor passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre (Guelph) at the age of 97. She was a WWII Veteran, stationed in Halifax, Ottawa, and British Columbia during the war.
Eleanor is survived by her partner of 52 years, Don Hillman and she will be greatly missed by her daughter Margaret Parker-Van Volkenburg, son in-law Larry Van Volkenburg and stepdaughter Dianne Hillman. Grandmother to Tyler Van Volkenburg, Kerrie Speake (Colin), Matthew Hillman (Brittany), Robbie Wilson, Jennifer Larmer (Roger), Sabrina Sinclair (Brent), Crystal Hillman, Kevin Anderson (Jennifer) and Jennifer Anderson. Known as GG to many of her 16 great-grandchildren. Adoring big sister to her brother Allen McDowell and sister in-law Marian. Sister in-law to Ruth Lennon and Marilyn Cleary. Remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Eleanor will be missed by special friend and honorary granddaughter Samantha Bower and her partner Waiys Hamkar. Predeceased by her parents William John McDowell and Ivy McDowell (Veitch), her son Robert William Anderson and her nephew William Allen McDowell.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Wellington Park Retirement Residence (Guelph) for all their support over the past 7 years. Also, a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre (Mapleview Neighbourhood) for your compassionate care of Eleanor for the past 3 weeks.
There will not be a visitation, but a celebration of life is being planned by the family for the spring/early summer. A tree will be planted in memory of Eleanor H. Parker-Hillman in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
