SLOOT, Gerard – Of Guelph, passed away peacefully from Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) at The Village of Riverside Glen on Thursday, January 30, 2025 in his 80th year.
Beloved father of Karen & Rick Kroes, Sidney & Michelle Sloot, Douglas Sloot & Rachel, and Heather & Charles VanHoffen. Proud Opa of David, Denise, Nadine and Melinda Kroes; Rebecca, Nathan, Evan (Laloni) and Jacob Sloot; Sterling and Brier Sloot, Ethan (Tia) and Seth Van Hoffen. Great Opa of Evangeline VanHoffen.
Dear brother of Anneke, Grace and Eva, loved brother-in-law of Reina, Jerry, John (2016) and Don. Pre-deceased by his parents, Jan & Grace and brothers Jan (1941), Johnny (1952), Andy (2015) and Sid (2022).
Survived by his first wife, Ida Franssen (nee Vanderlaan) and Arlene Ames.
Special thanks to the team at The Village of Riverside Glen for all the love and care they gave to our Dad when Riverside became his home.
A visitation will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 1:00-3:00pm. Funeral service to follow in the funeral home chapel, starting at 3:30pm. For those who are unable to attend the service but wish to watch remotely, you can do so via YouTube by clicking this link.
