AITKEN, Gordon Elmer – May 16th, 1924 – December 10th, 2023
After 99 wonderful years, Gord passed away peacefully in his sleep, Sunday December 10, 2023, with his wife Jean (Robertson) beside him. Gord and Jean were married 76 years. Gord was co-founder of Canadian Cab and drove Car #2. He was a proud WWII veteran. Gord’s family meant the world to him. He was a great mentor and gentle soul.
Gord leaves behind his beloved wife Jean, and three daughters Sharon, Linda (Ross), Pam (Bernie), 5 grandchildren Lisa (Ryan), Jeff, Becky (Matt), Tana and Tracey, 7 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Thomas & Bertha Aitken, sisters Helen Knapp, Marion Robertson, and brother Mervin Aitken. Loved by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gord always loved their phone calls and staying connected. Gord & Jean enjoyed playing euchre for many years at the Acton Legion and made many lasting friendships. One regret, Gord never saw his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs win another Stanley Cup.
The family would like to thank Dr. Choong and staff, Dr. Will Ruddock and Bayshore staff especially Lovenia and Catrina, The Emergency Services, Fire, Police, Paramedics for their compassion at this time. Thank you to Scott and Taylor (Wall Custance Funeral Home) for their kindness.
At Gord’s request, cremation has taken place, and no visitation or service. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).
As an expression of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Gordon E. Aitken in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
