WESTERMANN, Heinrich “Henry” – of Fergus, passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph on 7 July 2024, in his 97th year.
Survived by his long-time partner and friend Ruth. Loved father of Michelle and son-in-law Corey. Loving grandfather of Duncan and Erich. Cherished brother of Herbert. Predeceased by his dear sisters Ilse and Anita.
Henry enjoyed a long life of adventure and culinary delights, provided by a successful career as an executive chef. His journey from Germany decades ago allowed him to visit or work in many parts of Canada: Vancouver, Kelowna, and Jasper were among his favorites. He eventually settled in Toronto, running various kitchens in the area but most notably for the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club. He was a lifelong follower of almost every sport, especially soccer, hockey and tennis, and he was a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
The family is thankful for the care he received in the St. Joseph’s palliative unit in the weeks leading up to his passing. The family are especially grateful for the care he received on the retirement floor at Caressant Care Fergus where he resided for the last four years of his life.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).
