Hendrik Frielink
January 12, 2025
On a bright, sunny Sunday, January 12th morning Hendrik Frielink quietly finished his journey, a few weeks shy of his 90th birthday.
He was the last child born to Harm Jan Frielink and Hendrikje nee Schoemaker February 4th,1935 in Nieuleuwsen, The Netherlands. Curious and adventurous, he sailed to Canada at age 19. On a visit home in 1959 he met Janna Sterken and had a course redirect. They were married in 1961, established a home in Guelph and were blessed with six children: Henriette (William Wilcox), Derrick, Alice (Brett Daw), Carolyn, Harry (Marianne) and James (Christine).
Joyfully, 10 grandchildren were added to the crew: Roeland and Raymond Daw, James and Aaron Wilcox, Isaiah (Jessi), Peter (Joy), Elissa and Reuben Frielink, Hailey and Sarah Frielink.
We mourn the loss of a wonderful, kind, dedicated family man, known by many for his infectious smile and “can do attitude”. Henk had a deep faith and trust in God. He planted this in his children and, like his garden, it flourished. He filled our world with light and love and he left it surrounded with love in return.
