Herbert C. Hutchinson
HUTCHINSON, Herbert Clifford – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Herbert Clifford Hutchinson, who passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2026, at the age of 85.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; married for 64 years, and his sons, Stephen (Carolyn); and Jeff, and daughter-in-law, Karen; and his cherished grandchildren, Cody, Scotty (Mackenzie), Brady, Rebecca, and Matthew. He was predeceased by his parents, Wesley and Tressa; and by his brothers and sisters, Mary, John, Mabel, Lorraine, Jim, Luella, Nelson, Fred, and Donny.
Born in Markdale, Ontario, Herb was the son of Wesley and Tressa Hutchinson. From his earliest days, Herb believed in hard work and in giving back to those around him. He dedicated 30 years of his working life to W.C. Wood Co.
Herb proudly served his community as a volunteer member of the Puslinch Fire Department for nearly 18 years. He was also part of the group that helped bring the Puslinch Community Centre to life. A devoted member of Arkell United Church, Herb served faithfully and helped care for the church grounds. He also served on the Farnham Cemetery Board.
Music was one of Herb’s greatest joys. A talented musician, he sang in the Arkell choir, and played guitar, fiddle, and banjo. For years entertaining at local retirement homes with fellow musicians. He was a proud member of the Puslinch Fiddle Orchestra.
Herb and Darlene shared a love of travel. Together they enjoyed camping across Canada and the United States and travelled to many places throughout the world, creating lasting memories along the way. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes in several local leagues.
Herb will be remembered for his positive, uplifting spirit and his distinct laughter. He was well loved by many and brought people together through his music, service, and kindness.
Visitation will be at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Monday, February 16th, 2026 from 1 – 4 pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026 at 11 am. Anyone that would like to watch the service remotely, please click on this link.
