In Loving Memory of Marge Thomson
January 14, 1946 – June 25, 2025
With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marge Thomson, who left us peacefully, at the age of 79. She was surrounded by her loving family at Hospice Wellington.
Marge was born in Hamilton, Ontario, to Dean and Jessie Carter. She was one of six spirited sisters—Geri, Marilyn, Jane, Judy, and Donna—a strong, loving family whose close bond and connection helped shape her enduring commitment to family values.
Marge was a loving wife to Alan and a devoted mother to her two children Sara Bailey (Jeremy) and Scott Bailey (Deb). She also embraced her role as a stepmother to Sherri-Lee, Kevin, and Scott, sharing her warmth and kindness with open arms. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Carter, Bronte, Garrett, Jordyn, and Payton, all of whom she adored deeply. She took immense pride in each of them, celebrating their unique personalities and accomplishments, and was a constant source of love, encouragement, and laughter in their lives. Marge treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and built lasting memories they will carry with them forever.
A passionate educator and mentor, Marge dedicated her life to inspiring young minds. She began teaching in 1970 and spent her career at several Ontario high schools, including MM Robinson, Lord Elgin, and retiring at Milton District High School. Her students remember her not only as an exceptional math teacher but as someone who made learning exciting and meaningful. As one former student shared, “Your mum was a wonderful lady, and the best math teacher I ever had.”
Marge’s impact extended far beyond the classroom. She was actively involved in her community—coordinating donations to women’s shelters, supporting theatre productions in Florida, and contributing to the vibrant spirit of the MiniLakes community. Marge had a lifelong love of singing, which brought her immense joy and connection. She was an enthusiastic member of Sweet Adelines as well as several other choruses throughout her life. She cherished the friendships and harmony of voices coming together. Her boundless energy and love of life brought joy wherever she went.
She will be remembered for her radiant spirit, endless generosity, and heartfelt connections with everyone she met. As her family expressed, “She was an amazing mom, grandma, life partner, sister, daughter, and aunt. She was a blend of smart and capable, full of energy and fun, grounded by a heart full of love and kindness.”
The family will hold a private service, with a celebration of life to follow at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
In honour of Marge’s memory, donations can be made to Hospice Wellington, whose compassionate care brought comfort and peace in her final days.
She lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the wisdom she shared with her students, and the love of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A tree will be planted in memory of Marjorie R. Thomson in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
