The family of Mildred Mary (Doran) Ashton announce her graduation on Thursday, August 14, 2025 peacefully, at home, of natural causes.
Reunited with her husband of 69 years, ‘Jack’ John H. Ashton (April 11, 2013). Mother of John (Pat), Steve (Sharon) and Sandy Ashton. Grandmother of 4, Great Grandmother of 5 (expecting number 6) and Great Great Grandmother of 6.
Born November 20, 1924, in her 101st year!
Raised in Toronto, ON and also back together with parents, Arthur & Norah Doran, Sister, Dorothea, Brother-in-Law Don and Nephew, Greg.
Moving to and building first home in Guelph in 1959. Although family was always paramount, Mildred was passionate about economics and educated through the University of Waterloo, receiving the Canadian Securities Certificate then working, selling stocks and bonds for Bongard Leslie, downtown Guelph.
After building a cottage on the Bruce Peninsula, Mildred and Jack purchased 25 acres of country property and built their second home (1970) where her love of animals became possible as well as maintaining two extensive vegetable gardens.
All the while maintaining 40 years of ‘Bridge Club’ friendships, the sole Caregiver for her own Mother and living in a new community meeting neighbours.
Aging eventually required moving back to the city; Riverside Park area, not far from where she began on Clive Avenue. Wellington Park Retirement Residence would be her final move in 2022.
As per her wishes, a Family Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph.
