Providing Cremation and Funeral Services to Guelph and Area since 1941.
In loving memory of Iris De Souza
July 17th, 1937 – April 15th, 2025
Iris is survived by her daughters, Coral (Bob), Marina (Jeff), Rose (Derek) and Mary-anne. She was predeceased by her husband Conrad, sons Philip (Nancee) and Mark. She had 6 grand-children and 9 great grand-children. With 13 siblings, Iris had many nieces and nephews.
Iris was born in Ngora, Uganda, East Africa. She was a courageous 35yr old with 6 children when she and her husband immigrated to Canada because of the turbulent times of civil unrest. She was a quiet, shy, kind-hearted and smart, but with the strength of an Amazon warrior. She radiated a peaceful inner beauty but fought like a tigress for those she deeply loved and for those in need. She always had a ready smile and kind words for anyone and everyone. She was one of a kind.
Iris loved sewing, making stained-glass lamps, playing cards, family get togethers, travelling, fishing and cooking, and oh boy was she an excellent cook. Her rice and curries were the best.
Iris will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She will forever be in our hearts and prayers. She was the best amazing wife and Mother. She is an Angel now and is watching over us from heaven with a twinkle in her eye. Rest in peace our beloved Mom. You are in the greatest hands of all. God is taking care of her now. Until we meet again.
