Thomas Francis Condon (1933 -2025) born in St, Louis Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2025, with grace in his heart and surrounded by his loving family in Guelph, Ontario.
Tom was a professor of sociology at the University of Guelph for over 35 years, known for his maverick, eccentric and engaging style which had a profound influence on thousands of students and faculty. In his retirement Tom embarked on his true quest, a quest which he followed fiercely to his last breath. His quest was to get people collaborating to upend the current paradigm, based on individualistic and hierarchical structures to a collaborative, sociocratic paradigm where the wealth of the community relies on valuing and listening to all members regardless of Race, Role or Religion.
Tom passes the banner to his children Michael, John and Lisa who intend to follow his quest each in their own way. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Liam, Rachael, Jesse, Austin, Katelyn and Benjamin who will miss his stories, told in Grandpa’s Attic and hearing his old mantra, “Be good, but if you can’t be good… don’t get caught!”. Patricia (older sister) is the last sibling standing and was the only one who seemed to understand his ancient dialect and could decipher words like malarky and cat’s pajamas.
A celebration of life will be held at The Albion, 2nd floor, 49 Norfolk St, Guelph, ON N1H 4J1, on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 2:00pm.
