In Loving Memory of Thora Anne Taylor (Rooney)
We are heartbroken to share that Thora Anne Taylor, known affectionately by her family as Rooney, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.
Born and raised in Guelph, Ontario, Anne later made her home in St. Thomas and Springfield, where she raised her family. Following her marriage to Derek Taylor, she divided her time between Caledonia, Ontario, and Worthing, England, creating a life full of travel, community, and love. In her later years, she resided with her daughter Katherine and son-in-law Bob in Lowbanks, Ontario, where she treasured the tranquility of lakeside living. Most recently, she made her home at Wellington Park Assisted Living.
Anne’s life was one of grace, dedication, and quiet dignity. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star and UCW, and she gave generously of her time as a volunteer with many organizations over the years. An accomplished pianist, she filled her home and gatherings with music. She loved to read, explore, and travel the world, and she carried those experiences with her as stories and wisdom to share.
She will be deeply missed by her children: Kathryn (Bob) Colley, Barb (Mark) MacDiarmid, Linda (Bruce) Colley, Bob (Joan) Colley, and David (Angela) Colley. Anne was a loving grandmother to Devan, Kelsey, Jamie, Steven, Chad, and Catherine, and she cherished her many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Anne was predeceased by her husbands Derek Taylor and Edward Colley, her parents Stewart and Thora Austen, and her sons James Edward and Kenneth Stewart.
Above all, Anne’s greatest joy was time spent with her family. She had a remarkable gift for remembering names and details about everyone she met, making each person feel seen and valued. Her warmth, kindness, and strength will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 23rd, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Block P, Section 39, Grave 13. Please enter off of Woolwich Street. Refreshments will follow at Wall-Custance Funeral Home and Chapel, 206 Norfolk Street, Guelph, Ontario.
