Disbursements
Disbursements are items arranged for and possibly paid for on your behalf by us. You are expected to pay for these items at the time the contract is entered into. The following are some items that are often identified as disbursements.

Coroner’s Certificate
This is a fee charged by the coroner for issuing a certificate that allows cremation to take place. The fee is set by the Chief Coroner for Ontario (not taxed)

Municipal Registration
This is a fee charged by the local municipality to register the death. The fee is set by the municipality and may vary. (not taxed)

Cremation Fee
The fee charged by the crematorium for the process of cremation. Over 250lbs and family witnessing may incur additional costs.

Clergy / Church Fees
This is an amount paid to the clergy, cantor, organist, etc. for their services. In some cases the amount is set by the church, in others it is an amount to be determined by you. It is generally considered an honorarium.

Cemetery Opening and Closing Fees
Paid directly to the cemetery at cost, fees are for the cemetery staff to prepare property for disposition.

Obituaries and Flower Arrangements
The funeral home can assist families with placing these orders.

Reception Luncheon Catering
Catering services for reception The Wall-Custance Funeral Home can arrange for a caterer and food pick-up. The charge is $12 per person. A flat fee of $200 may be charged for the serving and cleanup of the reception hall.

Reception facilities No charge when included in a memorial or funeral service package
Use of facilities for a reception following the ceremony or memorial service, which includes the set up of the facilities, the use of the facilities and amenities and all clean up. Note: If reception facilities are being substituted as a visitation facility, the charge for “facilities for visitation” will apply.

Live streaming of service No charge when included in a memorial or funeral service package
The funeral home can live stream services which take place at the funeral home for those unable to attend in person.

Photo slideshow No charge when included in a memorial or funeral service package
Scanning of up to 50 photos to create a slideshow for the service or visitation.

Refundable deposit for cremated remains No charge
When human remains are to be cremated, a funeral home may charge a $350 refundable deposit. If the cremated remains are not claimed within one year of the cremation, the deposit may be used to inter the cremated remains in common ground. Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel does not charge this fee.

Removal of pacemaker or implant No charge
The removal of a pacemaker or implant will be carried out by a licensed professional.

Professional restorative procedures No charge
In some circumstances, additional restorative efforts beyond those captured in the standard embalming procedure are necessary to enhance the appearance of the deceased.

Basic professional fees (requires basic facility charge) $640
Professional consultation with licensed personnel, which may include but is not to, expert advice on options to meet your needs, including essential services relating to disposition, drafting notices, planning services, advising of death benefits. A basic professional fee is payable whenever we provide services to you.

Coordinating activities, rites, ceremonies $375
Coordination of all activities, rites, ceremonies, before, during and after they have been provided, including services and supplies provided by us, as well as those provided by third party suppliers, such as flowers and death notices.

Documentation - permits, forms etc. $200
Completion and filing of all documents necessary to carry out the services and supplies requested, including, but not limited to, death registration, burial permit, coroner’s certificate of cremation, documentation necessary to ship the body out of country. Provision of unlimited Proofs of Death issued by Wall-Custance (our proofs of death are usually accepted for most estate settlement purposes, but sometimes a provincial “Death Certificate” will be necessary and is available from the Office of the Registrar General). Wall-Custance notifies CPP/OAS to cancel pensions as well as fill out death benefit and survivor benefit forms.

Basic preparation of remains (requires facilities for preparation/embalming/shelter) $100
The preparation of the body for placement into the casket, including bathing, dressing and setting of facial features for identification or viewing without embalming.

Embalming of remains (requires basic preparation of remains and facilities for preparation/embalming) $250
Embalming is the process of replacing body fluids with chemical preservatives. It is a process of sanitation, restoration and temporary preservation. Embalming is not legally required, but may be recommended to preserve the body between the time of death and the visitation or disposition of the deceased. Our professional funeral directors will make a recommendation based on the condition of the body and expected service needs.

Staff services for visitation $500
Staff to coordinate and oversee the visitation (informal gathering) for a period up to 48 hours. (e.g. 1 hour prior to service/one day 2-4 & 7-9 p.m./two days 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.)

Facilities for visitation (requires staff services for visitation) $500
Designated facilities used for visitation for a period up to 48 hours. (e.g. 1 hour prior to service/one day 2-4 & 7-9 p.m./two days 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.)

Staff to coordinate and oversee the ceremony or memorial service for up to 4 hours.

Designated facilities used for the ceremony or memorial service for up to 4 hours.

Staff for graveside service $200
A charge applies when the funeral home is requested to have staff present for a graveside service. This includes picking up the minister, as well as having the cremated remains or casket present for the graveside service. Staff will be present to direct those who attend. Charge may also apply for spring interments.

Equipment for visitation/service at a remote location $150
Deliver, set up and use of equipment necessary for visitation at a location other than the funeral establishment.

General duty vehicle $100
For registration at city hall, picking up death certificate from doctor, obtaining coroners signature for cremation, delivering donations, flowers, etc.

Vehicle to transport remains $255
Vehicle used to pick up deceased person from place of death back to funeral home. As well, transporting deceased from funeral home to crematorium in Guelph.

Funeral Coach/Van $300
(fixed charge for first 100 km) Note: If mileage goes beyond 100 km a per unit charge of $1.00 per kilometre may be calculated. This additional fee for mileage can be waived by the funeral home.

PAYMENT, FINANCING & TRUST
We are proud to offer various payment, funding and financing options to our families.
The purchaser agrees to pay the amount owing within 30 days, after which interest will be calculated and charged in accordance with the terms of payment set out in this contract. Wall-Custance accepts payment by cheque, e-transfer, or cash.
Payment terms: Interest will be charged on any overdue amount at the rate of 1 % per month (equivalent to 12 % per annum) until the date payment is made in full. Note: Wall-Custance Funeral Home has never required the purchaser to deposit any funds at the time the merchandise and services have been purchased and a contract signed at the time of death. If payment is not received after the 30 days in which the contract was signed, please notify the Wall-Custance Funeral Home. In most cases, with a reasonable explanation, Wall-Custance will waive any interest charges if it is demonstrated by the purchaser that the funeral account will be paid within reasonable time agreed between both parties.
For your convenience, we offer two funding options when prepaying services or supplies. When prepaying, you pay for the services and supplies today and the money will be used to pay for the services and supplies when they are delivered at the time of death.
Trust: You may pay the money directly to us and we will place it in trust, where it will accrue interest until the contract is fulfilled (when the services and supplies are delivered) or the contract is cancelled.
Insurance: You may purchase an insurance contract where the proceeds of the insurance contract will be used to pay for the services or supplies at the time they are delivered or the contract is cancelled.

Taxes: Unless otherwise identified, all applicable taxes (HST of 13%) will be added to the prices indicated.
